All Day Long by Stacy Jagger
Well today folks is a new day. I have officially toured our local grocery store, Publix, and I will never be the same again. Who knew that only minutes down the road that such entertainment and world class service was available to us, IF you have a group of preschoolers with you that is.
Oh yes, Music with Mommie’s latest playgroup adventure was nonetheless an adventure to say the least as our children’s tummies were filled with pink rose icing, popcorn chicken and pineapple, in that order, and we had the rare opportunity to greet the lobsters face to face and to pack meat. Yes my friends we watched the ground chuck slime out of the machine thingy, plop on the styrofoam platter, get cellophaned and stickered, and my dear precious two year old brought it right out to the meat counter, just for you, for $3.76 that is. Happy Hamburgers.
AND. We found out the totally cool fact that my super picky picky husband can SPECIAL ORDER anything he dang well pleases if they don’t carry it and they will personally go and get it for him. Well praise the Lord people, who knew. There is a little special shelf for all of your special order needs, name and all. Now that’s for service.
That was AFTER we went into the beer frig, don’t worry we behaved, and just BEFORE we got to count five hundred whole dollars with the machine counter dealy deal that apparently needs to come home with me to count all my imaginary dollars. I even took a picture of their special, secret money drawer and that will be up on YouTube real soon. Kidding.
Coloring books and big smiles later and I must say, I am thirty four years old and why on God’ green earth have I never toured a grocery store before? I mean come on people how many times have you thought, where’s this? Or where’s that? When all the while, all you had to do is sign up for a local Music with Mommie class and Wala’! A playgroup tour of Publix. Man, this is the life. I feel like I’ve been saved all over again.
OK friends, stay warm, wave when I drive by, and don’t forget this Christmas to be thankful for all the hardworking, meat packin’, fruit pickin’, money countin’ folks down at your local grocery. They smile a lot , they take your groceries to your car when you are seven months pregnant with a two year old who sings ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’ really loud all through their lovely, flowers-for-only-three-bucks store. And they let you have a full on photo shoot with all the hair net people.
Ahh. Off to the potty now. Miss Rebekah WILL be potty trained before this next baby comes, if I have to hire Nanny 911 myself. But that’s another story, for another day. I know, I know, too much information...
